First launch
Three commands are enough to start: build, play, try without a screen.
1. Build
Phosphoneo builds with make. It needs the Trinity firmware repository prepared (NEO_FIRMWARE, default ~/Neo6502Trinity, after make -C firmware prelim). Two dependencies are optional and detected automatically: SDL2 (for --sdl) and ncursesw (for --tui). Co-simulation is added if the RP2040 emulator is present (COSIM=1).
make # builds build/phosphoneo
make test # processor oracle, boot, differential, reference screenshots…
2. Play
phosphoneo --sdl --scale 3 prog.neo
A window opens at 3 × 320 × 240, at 60 frames per second, with keyboard, mouse, gamepad and sound. F11 toggles full screen, F12 takes a screenshot, Ctrl+F12 opens the menu (see Window, sound and video). Closing the window ends the emulation.
3. Try without a screen
phosphoneo --cycles 45000000 --type-keys '15000000:VER\nDIR\n' --screenshot-text out.txt
Nothing opens: Phosphoneo boots the firmware, types VER then DIR from cycle 15 million, stops at 45 million and writes the console to out.txt:
A:\>VER
NeoDOS version 0.34.0
Neo6502 firmware 0.16.94
A:\>DIR
Volume in drive A is HOST0
Directory of A:\
File not found
A:\>
Run ten times, the command gives the same file ten times. That is the principle behind everything else.
