Where the project stands
Used every day to validate our ports, but not yet released: here is what is true as of this wiki.
Version and pace
The latest tagged version is 0.5.0 (18 September 2026); three versions (0.3.0, 0.4.0, 0.5.0) came out in three days in mid-September, and development goes on: alignment with each Trinity firmware version, save states, configuration menu, a higher limit on scheduled writes, requests from the collective’s other projects.
What is proven
- The 65C02 core passes 100% of the SingleStepTests oracle: 2,540,000 cases, state, RAM, cycles and bus access sequence.
- The firmware API is exact by construction: it is the same code.
- About thirty reference screenshots are compared by fingerprint every time the tests run, and screenshots are pixel-identical to the official emulator’s on the shared cases.
What is not
Call latency and pace are modelled, not measured on the board; the measurement protocol is written, it has not been run. The DVI signal, USB, the extension UART, I2C, SPI, GPIO and the SD card’s speed are not modelled.
Access
Phosphoneo’s code is not public for now. What you can use today: the programs it helped to tune (see tachibana.eu), and its WebAssembly build, which runs Neo6502 programs in the browser through Prophet. It builds and is tested on Linux.
